Q-music & Telenet distributed 2 million 3D glasses to show their first stereoscopic commercials on television. It took a lot of preparation and effort to set up the complete project, but finally it is successfully on air and a site provides some extra information on the project for all audiences. July announces to be very busy and of course some of us will be enjoying their summer holidays. An enthusiast student for a 1 month summer job is welcome to give administrative support to the Grid team by doing the following tasks:

- Incoming telephone traffic
- Invoicing
- Follow-up payments

Flemish masterpieces at the Shangai world expo

Changes

15 years ago, Frank De Wulf’s passion for film, 3D and vfx lead to the foundation of Grid vfx. With his knack for innovation he managed to turn Grid into one of the leading vfx studios in Belgium, in just a few years time. Since then, things have evolved at a fast rate. Now we find ourselves 15 years later, and so the time has come to pause for a moment, to take stock of our past achievements, and to look forward to future dreams and ambitions.

Recently, Frank has decided to change his relation with Grid, which means he will evolve from his position as stakeholder and manager to a creative production consultant. This decision allows Frank to combine his work at Grid with his musical ambitions (www.frankdewulf.com) and creative exploits.

Frank’s share in Grid is transferred to the other stakeholder, Jan Goossen, guaranteeing the continuity of the studio. Grid will continue to follow the course that was originally set out by Jan Goossen, with the support of his management team (Jan Ebo, Charlotte De Mey).

Frank will be off to enjoy 2 well deserved months of holiday (april/may 2010). He will then finalise current engagements on some ongoing projects and as from June 2010, Frank will be engaged as creative consultant on demand of Grid and our clients.
Of course, our team will keep up the good work. Jan, Bert, Mathieu, Lieven, Pim, Daan, Jeroen, Kris, Laurens, Frank, Dirk, Carla, Frederik, Rene, Edith, Jan, Charlotte, Liesje, Natacha, Patrick, Samuel, Aykan, Piet, Bert, Tim, Kristof, Pieter, Maarten, Frank, Peter, Sebastian, Raf will keep delivering the Grid added value to your productions.

The Magic Crystal

SKYLINE entertainment is coproducing and distributing this 3D animation feature film for the Benelux. Its stereoscopic release is scheduled for Christmas 2010. The Magic Crystal is a family story with attractive characters and a strong scenario directed by Antti Haikala (Finland). The goal is to use the strengths of traditional animation and 3D animation’s effectiveness. We will create an imaginary environment that suits our fairytale. Lapland is the setting for the story and the interiors will be very imaginative places. Santa’s palace will be a huge hi-tech complex where all of the Christmas presents are made. The villain’s place is like an enormous factory made of ice and rock.
Currently, we are defining the post-production pipeline in collaboration with CoToon (Liège) and CGLux (Luxemburg). A teaser is already planned for the end of this year. We hope we made you curious.

Code 37 II

The first series of Code 37 are finished. CIM reported an average of 860.000 viewers with an average market share of 45% on the responsible for purchasing 18-44 year. No wonder the second series are ordered. We look forward to the next collaboration.

Music for life 2009

StuBru’s Music for life 2009 event is all about Malaria. Mortierbrigade engaged Grid in addition to the production team of VRT under supervision of Lies Muys to realize it’s TV-campaign. Therefore, we had a shooting in our temporary green key studio. A lot of action with a happy client. But it is not finished yet, it will be completed with some explosive vfx. To be continued.

CFP-Belgium award for Jacqmotte

CFP-Belgium (the Belgian Association of Commercial Film Producers) organized their first CFP-Belgium Awards. It is a compendium of the most outstanding commercials selected for excellence and achievement in various craft categories. The awards ceremony & party took place last Friday November 20th 2009 in Brussels. Grid is proud to have been awarded for the animation work for the Jacqmotte commercial directed by Stef Viaene, with the art direction of Raf Schoenmaekers and produced by Latcho Drom. Congratulations to all!
